According to the novel by Donald E. Westlake, the actor finds Paul Cole (Andrรฉ Holland), he got stuck in a mysterious small town, who does not remember who he is or how he came in. Without a sense of identity or purpose, he starts from scratch and begins to create a local designer of Edna costumes (Gemma Chan). When his past elements appear gradually, he tries to find the way home, but the time is slippery, the shows cannot be trusted and it is not clear which of his identity is true.
