Whether they’re exploring the stars, escaping dystopias, or making the world a better place, these women are what science fiction is all about. The Dune High School Trilogy is a collection of short stories written by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson. A prequel to the original Dune, it tells the story of how the Rossak Sisterhood evolved into the Bene Gesserit. The incident with Valya Harkonnen, who uses the voice, is from one called ‘Mentats of Dune’. All three books intertwine the development of the Sisterhood, the Mentats, the Navigators, and the Suk Doctor. Honestly, the entire time I was watching the series, I felt like it was a SyFy show, the story just didn’t feel rich or compelling (since I was distracted by everything around me, and that’s what happens when you lose your focus). While you could tell the production value was great, it doesn’t feel like it belongs on MAX.
